‘Impartial Justice’? What to watch in Trump’s Senate trial

(AP) The impeachment of President Donald Trump is the Senate’s challenge now.

The trial of the House’s abuse and obstruction charges gets underway Thursday with ceremonial and housekeeping matters that set up the Senate as a court of impeachment.

Striking visuals will rule the day. Chief Justice John Roberts and House prosecutors will make appearances in the Senate chamber. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says Roberts will take his oath as the trial’s presiding officer, and he in turn will swear in the senators who act as jurors.

Arguments get underway next Tuesday.
