Boone County’s collector of revenue reminds you that your Boone County property taxes are due on Sunday, which is New Year’s Eve. Collector Brian McCollum says payments postmarked in January 2024 are considered delinquent, adding that late charges will apply.

“Interesting thing this weekend, 30th and 31st are both going to be on Saturday and Sunday here. So the main thing that we want folks to understand is, especially if they’re going to mail their payment, we recommend mail that payment now,” Mr. McCollum says.

You can pay your property taxes in-person at the Collector’s office today (Wednesday), tomorrow and Friday from 8 am until 5 pm. They’re located on the first floor of the Roger Wilson Boone County Government Center. Mr. McCollum tells 939 the Eagle that paying in-person at the collector’s office is the best way to guarantee you’ll have your paid receipt in-hand.

“At the end of the year there’s always a lot of foot traffic comes in here. But we do try to get everybody in and out of here as quickly as we can so we just kind of have some patience on both sides of the window there,” McCollum says.

Mr. McCollum says there’s also a 24-hour drop box near the 9th street entrance to the government center. All property tax payments are due by Sunday to avoid statutorily imposed late penalties and fees.
