Look for heavy traffic throughout Columbia this evening and tomorrow morning, as the Missouri Tigers prepare to battle LSU in a top 25 showdown at Faurot Field.

The game is a sellout, which means there will be 62,621 fans at Faurot. #21 Mizzou is 5-0, while Brian Kelly’s 23rd ranked LSU squad is 3-2. The game will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN, following their popular “Gameday” broadcast. Columbia Mayor Barbara Buffaloe tells 939 the Eagle that she’s excited about the exposure.

“It is Columbia’s time to showcase how vibrant and just really energetic our community is. As we’re trying to recruit people both workforce as well as future students, as we’re trying to recruit them into Columbia to consider this as a place to move, this is a perfect opportunity to help put us on the map,” Mayor Buffaloe says.

ESPN television crews are in downtown Columbia today shooting video of several restaurants and locations. Tomorrow morning’s kickoff is set for 11:07.

“I talk to sometimes major recruiters who are looking at, they’re recruiting for the University (of Missouri), they’re recruiting for some of our major industries. And sometimes when they talk to people and they say Columbia, Missouri, a person might say where? And now I’m hearing more and more like oh yeah I remember hearing about that place,” Mayor Buffaloe says.

Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz is excited about the Top 25 showdown with the LSU Fighting Tigers. Coach Drinkwitz likes the early start.

“We need our fans in their seats early, creating the atmosphere prior to the 11:07 kick. We need our students in there … fans, ready to go early, early, early. So, I ask our fans, I appreciate them coming, I just ask them to get in there and get the atmosphere going so our guys can be ready to play, ready to go when it kicks”

The game will be broadcast live nationally on ESPN with Bob Wischusen, former Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III and Kris Budden on the call. You can also listen to it on the Central Bank Tiger Radio Network on Zimmer Radio affiliates KTGR (FM 100.5) and KCMQ (FM 96.7).
