Macon officer fired after made-up assault

The Macon Police Department says the officer who claimed he was knocked unconscious by a bad guy last week made the whole thing up.

The cop said he saw a suspicious person at the boat ramp at Macon Lake on Oct. 22, and another person hit him from behind. The department now says that’s not true, and he’s been fired.

State and local authorities are turning over info to prosecutors for possible criminal charges once the investigation is done.
