The sheriff in mid-Missouri’s Moniteau County is praising the generosity of two seven-year-olds, who donated the $500 they raised from their August Tipton lemonade stand to the county’s upcoming “Shop with a Cop” program.
The children are Owen Crane and Ryder Bracht. Sheriff Tony Wheatley tells 939 the Eagle that they are true citizen heroes.
“We’re really proud of these boys. They set a very good example of what the young kids need to follow today, and we’re proud of the parents for letting them do this,” Sheriff Wheatley says.
He says Owen and Ryder are helping needy children in the county have a much brighter Christmas.
“The school helps us identify less fortunate children who may not have the opportunity to get any gifts this year for Christmas, or their family may not be able to afford to get them anything,” says Wheatley.
The Shop with a Cop program will be happening soon. It helps purchase toys for less fortunate children in five Moniteau County school districts: California, Tipton, High Point, Clarksburg and Latham.
