Missouri Senate passes five violent crime bills

The Missouri Senate passes five violent crime bills.

The one that took the most debate was finally approved early Thursday morning, giving the state attorney general the authority to prosecute St. Louis city homicides. Republicans say Democratic St. Louis prosecutor Kim Gardner is not doing enough with those cases.

Other bills the governor may sign into law soon include tougher penalties for adults illegally giving guns to kids, and the creation of a statewide witness protection program.
