Missouri unemployment claims surge during pandemic

Unemployment claims are way up in Missouri.

More than 104,000 people filed last week, after about 32,000 did the week before that.

The Springfield News-Leader reports the claims in just the past two weeks are now more than half what the state received in all of 2019. Roughly 7,000 people filed for unemployment the first two weeks of March.
