Linebacker Nick Bolton had 14 tackles to lead Mizzou over South Carolina 17-10 in a defensive struggle on Saturday night.
The Gamecocks managed less than 300 yards of total offense in front of the home crowd. South Carolina fired head coach Will Muschamp days before the game. Several players opted out of the rest of the season soon after that move. Mike Bobo served as interim coach.
Mizzou (3-3) coach Eli Drinkwitz said before the game the Tigers played with 52 scholarship players, below the 53 recommended by the SEC to play.
The Tigers host rival Arkansas (3-5), and former coach Barry Odom, on Nov. 28.
