Name removed from Rock Bridge field; no formal name change yet

The Columbia Public Schools board decided on Thursday morning not to officially change the name of Rock Bridge High School’s football field yet.

The plan for now is to remove Wayne Sells’ name from the field’s scoreboard, while the school board considers what to do long-term.

The superintendent and school board president are among those criticizing a Facebook post last week by the local developer. He blasted NFL players kneeling during the national anthem. Sells has apologized to the board for the post.
