Investigators say an improperly installed wood stove caused a fire at a Jefferson City home that was being renovated.
No one was living in the home on Jackson Street when a neighbor spotted flames and smoke on Tuesday evening.
Two dogs were inside the house. Firefighters found one hiding in the attic but the other dog died.
