Southern Boone’s School Board in Ashland has voted to remove the mask requirement policy, which means that masks are no longer required to be worn in all buildings. The new policy takes effect immediately.
The Board held a special meeting Thursday night, about 12 hours after Southern Boone Middle School imposed a mask requirement there.
The middle school principal says the middle school currently has 81 students and staff who have either tested positive for COVID or are in quarantine as a close contact.
The district notes masks are still required on school buses, under federal regulations.
