One St. Louis County Councilman says the indictment of County Executive Steve Stenger means the proposed St. Louis City/County merger is probably off the table.
“I’m sure they’re scrambling today, finding out where they want to go with this,” Republican Councilman Mark Harder says. “In my opinion, the Better Together plan is DOA for St. Louis County.”
Stenger resigned this week. He faces charges he provided political favors in exchange for campaign donations.
Supporters of merging Saint Louis city and county are trying to get their Better Together idea on a statewide ballot.
