State officials file lawsuit against mid-Missouri fence contractor

Missouri’s attorney general has filed a civil lawsuit against “Affordable Fence” in Boone County, alleging that contractor Joseph Murray violated Missouri consumer protection laws.

Attorney General Eric Schmitt’s lawsuit alleges that Affordable Fence took advance payments in 2020 from at least four Missourians for fencing and fence installation that never happened.

Schmitt says those four homeowners lost more than $18,000. Schmitt’s office filed the lawsuit in Boone County Circuit Court.

Schmitt credits his office’s Consumer Protection Section for investigating the case against Murray and Affordable Fence. “This lawsuit is yet another result of their dedicated, tireless work,” he says.
