Board of Realtors chief executive officer Brian Toohey says the average home sold price in July was $416,000, up 19 percent from last year. Mr. Toohey says the median home price in Boone County was up 11 percent to $351,000, also setting an all-time record.

Mr. Toohey says one reason for this is that there was a significant increase in homes sold at or above $1-million. He says eight homes sold in July for $1-million or more. Mr. Toohey also says building permits countywide are up 28 percent year to date.

Columbia city manager De’Carlon Seewood says Columbia is grappling with a housing crisis. He says Columbia has a shortage of housing, specifically a shortage of affordable housing.
