UPDATE: Columbia sets daily snowfall record for February 2

Snow will finally begin tapering off across mid-Missouri from about 9 am until noon, although we’ll still be dealing with frigid temperatures through tomorrow (Friday).

A few additional inches of snow have fallen since last night, bringing Columbia’s official total snowfall amount to about nine inches. National Weather Service (NWS) St. Louis meteorologist Jon Carney tells 939 the Eagle that 7.2 inches of snow fell in Columbia on Wednesday, setting a daily snowfall record for February 2 in Columbia.

Mr. Carney says Columbia and Jefferson City are expected to receive another few inches of snow by noon today.
