Columbia Police have called a press conference for Friday morning at 11 to update reporters on last weekend’s downtown shooting near 8th and Walnut.
A 36-year-old woman was shot in the back, and court documents say the bullet exited out the right side of her chest. CPD says she was reportedly in stable condition at a local hospital at last check.
Boone County prosecutors have charged two men after the shooting: 28-year-old Demarquen Allen of Columbia is charged with armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. The Columbia Police Department’s probable cause statement quotes Allen as telling police that he was standing in the alley behind the Reign Bar when he heard people arguing and that “everyone started shooting.”
