Columbia Police are requesting your assistance in solving Tuesday morning’s threat at Frederick Douglass high school on Providence. No injuries are reported from the incident.
CPD says officers responded Tuesday morning at about 10:15 to a bomb threat and firearm threat at Douglass high school. Columbia police officers evacuated school staff, while police, K9 units and an MUPD bomb technician cleared the building. There were no students inside.
CPD says NO threats were located anywhere in or near Douglass high school. School staff members were then escorted back into the building. CPD says there is no suspect information to release at this time.
Columbia Public Schools (CPS) spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark tells 939 the Eagle that staff were on-campus getting ready for the new school year. Baumstark says CPS appreciates law enforcement’s efforts to keep Douglass staff safe.
