UPDATE: Juvenile detained in April’s Columbia murder on Premier lane

Columbia Police say they’ve arrested a juvenile for April’s homicide on Premier lane in northeast Columbia.

Columbia Police have posted on Facebook that the juvenile was taken into custody on Wednesday in Callaway County by Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies and by Columbia Police. CPD investigators thank Callaway County Sheriff’s deputies and you for your assistance.

Columbia Police add there are no outstanding suspects at this time.

The April 11 shooting killed 18-year-old Derek Silvey of Columbia. Silvey was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. The shooting happened in a residential area, east of Highway 63 near Brown Station road.

Unless the suspect is charged as an adult, the suspect’s name cannot be released because he or she is a juvenile. Columbia Police are seeking second degree murder, tampering with physical evidence and stealing charges against the suspect.
