Mizzou standout running back Ahmad Hardy has been released from a Mississippi hospital, after being shot at a weekend concert in Laurel.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel reports Hardy is heading to Mizzou’s campus in Columbia immediately to start rehabilitation with the goal of playing this fall.

Sunday’s early-morning shooting happened at a biker club and no arrests have been made. The “Laurel Leader-Call” newspaper in Mississippi reports the three men detained after the shooting have been cleared and released. Laurel Police are now working on other leads.

Laurel police sergeant Macon Davis says police do not believe Hardy was an intended target. Sergeant Davis tells the newspaper that police believe Hardy “was at the wrong place at the wrong time” and that he was an unfortunate victim.

Ahmad Hardy set Mizzou’s single-season rushing record in 2025, rushing for 1,649 yards.
