Winter storm warning issued for Sunday, Monday

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for mid-Missouri through Monday night.

Snow started falling Sunday morning and caused several accidents. One person died in a crash in southern Callaway County at about noon.

At least three inches of snow had fallen in Columbia as of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. Mexico had more than four inches. The NWS office in Pleasant Hill said eight inches fell in parts of the Kansas City area.

Forecasters were calling for 1-4” more of snow in Columbia on Monday. There’s also a chance of freezing precipitation that will keep roads slick.
