Columbia-based Shelter Insurance is planning a special holiday treat for the public in December, as part of the company’s 75th anniversary.
Shelter president Randa Rawlins says the company’s garden crew and staffers are organizing a “Winter Wonderland.”
“You know we always have the holiday tree lighting ceremony, and have our partner in education bring their children over to sing and that sort of thing and really have a big community celebration. So, that’s going to be on Thursday December 2. And the same night, we will open up our Winter Wonderland,” Rawlins tells 939 the Eagle’s Fred Parry.
The “Winter Wonderland” will be open to the public, and will also be called the “Garden of Lights.”
The five-acre Shelter Gardens are located on West Broadway in Columbia, and include a waterfall. The gardens have more than 300 varieties of trees and shrubs. The gardens are open every day, with the exception of Christmas Day.
