A Jefferson City couple who were already jailed without bond for child sex charges are now facing additional federal child pornography charges.
33-year-old Paul Schofield and his wife Sara Schofield have been indicted by a federal grand jury in the Capital City. They are former corrections officers for the Missouri Department of Corrections (DOC).
The 12-count federal indictment was returned by the federal grand jury on Wednesday and has been unsealed. Paul Schofield is now charged with producing child pornography, and Sara Schofield is charged with two counts of producing child pornography.
Federal prosecutors say the couple allegedly videotaped their alleged sexual assault of an unconscious four-year-old child. The indictment also contains graphic new information, alleging the couple conspired to produce child pornography from 2019 to 2022.
Federal prosecutors say the victim was under the age of 12.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Willie Epps has ordered them both to be jailed in federal custody without bond.
Paul and Sara Schofield worked for the Missouri DOC as corrections officers, and Paul worked at the maximum-security Jefferson City Correctional Center. Missouri DOC spokeswoman Karen Pojmann has told 939 the Eagle that they’re no longer employed by the department.
