Animal rights group demands $357,000 from MU after court battle

An animal rights organization is now asking the court to make the University of Missouri pay more than $350,000 in legal fees and penalties.

Last month, a judge ruled that MU violated Missouri’s open record law by charging the Beagle Freedom Project more than $82,000 for a records request.

This week, the organization demanded the college pay quadruple that amount, covering the attorney costs, and includes an upcharge to act as “a deterrent.”
