A Columbia man has been indicted for first degree murder, for the March shooting death of his father on Pinecrest drive. That’s west of Brown Station road.

A Boone County grand jury has indicted 21-year-old Samuel Brotherton for first degree murder and armed criminal action. The indictment, which was unsealed on Friday, replaces earlier charges. Brotherton will be arraigned Tuesday morning at 8:30 before Judge Joshua Devine.

The Columbia Police Department’s probable cause statement say Brotherton called 911 in March to say he decided to shoot his father after an argument. 64-year-old Rollin Thompson of Columbia was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Brotherton remains jailed without bond.
