An accused murderer from Columbia remains jailed without bond this (Tuesday) morning, after he fled to Iowa after the killing.
36-year-old Mark Achterberg is charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action for the November 8 killing of Justin Stidham, who was shot to death on North Kent drive. Achterberg was later captured by authorities in Creston, Iowa.
He’s been jailed without bond, after the court found that “no monetary or non-monetary amount will protect the community.”
Achterberg will appear in Boone County Circuit Court at 1:30 this afternoon.
