Boone County’s clerk says her office is proceeding as if the congressional redistricting map approved by lawmakers this month will be the new map.

Clerk Brianna Lennon tells 939 the Eagle News that getting the word out is critical, noting that many Ashland-area residents think they’ll be voting for State Rep. Sara Walsh (R-Ashland) in the August GOP congressional primary. Ashland and southern Boone County are in the district of U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth), under the new map.

Clerk Lennon says her office’s deadline for the new congressional redistricting map is next Tuesday (May 24), because absentee ballots have to be ready by June 17. She describes the process as time-consuming for her staff, noting it must all be done manually.
