You will see five courtrooms up-and-running in the Cole County Courthouse at the start of 2021.
Judge Brian Stumpe moves from municipal court to fill the newly-created second associate circuit judge position.
County Commissioner-elect Harry Otto says it may be a scramble to find a permanent place for that fifth courtroom.
“There were architectural drawings about taking down the old jail and building out in that direction. That’s still a possibility,” Otto says. “We may go over to Adams Street. There’s a property that was acquired from the library that is sitting empty.”
Otto defeated incumbent Kris Scheperle for the Western District Cole County Commissioner seat.
