Boone County prosecutors have filed murder charges against both suspects in Saturday afternoon’s homicide in a busy Moser’s parking lot in Columbia.

22-year-old Loyal Martell of Holts Summit is charged with first degree murder, first degree robbery and two other felonies. The second suspect, 22-year-old Joshua Dudley of Kirksville, is charged with second degree murder, first degree robbery and armed criminal action.

A Boone County judge describes both suspects as flight risks and a danger to the community. Martell and Dudley are jailed without bond. They could be arraigned this (Monday) afternoon at 1:30 in Boone County Circuit Court, via video.

Saturday afternoon’s murder happened at about 4:20 in the Moser’s parking lot, which is across the street from the busy Drury Inn and Suites and visible from heavily-traveled I-70.

The victim is identified as 22-year-old Shavez Avieon Waage of Columbia. CPD officers tried to perform CPR on Mr. Waage, but he was already dead from gunshot wounds.

CPD’s ongoing investigation is being conducted by the department’s criminal investigations division.
