Columbia police arrest suspect after assault with car

Police have arrested the man who allegedly hit another man with his car in central Columbia.

Darell Rogers, 35, was booked into the Boone County Jail Wednesday. Officers say the assault happened at the Break Time on Business Loop 70 and Garth Avenue at around 5:10 a.m. Tuesday. Rogres is accused of targeting a 51-year old man and 40-year old woman, who said she had been in a relationship with the suspect.

Rogers allegedly hit the male victim with his car. The man was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The woman was not hurt. The car also did damage to the side of the building.

Rogers could be facing charges of first-degree assault, armed criminal action, first-degree domestic assault and first-degree property damage.
