Columbia rape, invasion of privacy suspect’s trial begins

A Columbia rape and sodomy suspect who was on the run for months is finally scheduled to go on trial on Tuesday.

Jay Robinson, 44, is facing 24 total felony charges. Half of those are for allegedly placing secret cameras in a Columbia Public Library bathroom in 2018.

Federal investigators said in 2019 he may have tried to escape to Iceland at one point to avoid prosecution.
