You’ll see side window panels this summer at Columbia’s tallest parking garage, which has been the site of numerous suicides since 2011.
Columbia’s city council has approved a $504,000 project to install side window panels at the Fifth and Walnut garage downtown.
Jonathan White, who led the citizen’s petition for more suicide prevention barriers at the garage, says there have been eight suicides at the nine-level garage since it opened.
The city has finished a $489,000 project to install fencing on the garage’s top level.
