A Jefferson City husband and wife are now facing federal charges for videotaping their alleged sexual assault on an unconscious four-year-old child.
33-year-old Paul Schofield and his wife Sara both worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections (DOC) as corrections officers. Paul Schofield worked at the maximum-security Jefferson City Correctional Center, and it’s unclear where his wife worked. Missouri DOC spokeswoman Karen Pojmann tells 939 the Eagle they’re both former staff members “and are no longer employed by the department.”
The Boone County Cyber Crimes Task Force received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about the case in April. The Schofields allegedly videotaped the 2019 incident with the unconscious four-year-old.
Federal prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s office in Kansas City also say investigators found videos on Paul Schofield’s phone of adults sexually assaulting infants.
Trial dates have not been set yet.
