Food banks plan for more people in need during pandemic

You may have never needed a food bank before to get by. If you do now, Lindsay Young Lopez with the Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri says don’t be afraid to reach out.

“Just know that, when you get there, there are people who really care about you and your circumstances and just want to help you, whether it’s that one time or whether it’s over a sustained period.”

The food bank on Vandiver Dr. in Columbia is on limited hours and using a drive-thru model during the COVID-19 pandemic. Get more info, including how you can donate, at sharefoodbringhope.org.

The USDA is sending federal money soon to help boost local food banks during the coronavirus pandemic too.
