The state health department will be conducting free rapid hepatitis C and HIV testing today (Thursday) at the Missouri Capitol in Jefferson City. The event will take place from 11 am to 1 pm on the Capitol’s south side, in coordination with National Hepatitis testing day.
The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) says millions of Americans have chronic viral hepatitis, adding that most don’t realize they have it.
DHSS says the day’s aim is to raise awareness and to encourage more residents to learn their status. DHSS spokeswoman Lisa Cox tells 939 the Eagle that the test involves a finger stick blood test.
