A $20-million addition to the Mizzou research reactor in Columbia has been approved by the UM Board of Curators.

The board voted Thursday to approve the 40,000 square foot addition to expand the existing facility. It’s expected to be finished in 2024.

The MU research reactor, which operates at ten megawatts, is the most powerful university research reactor in the nation.

UM System president Dr. Mun Choi has told 939 the Eagle that the Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health Initiative in Columbia will leverage the power of Mizzou, MU Health Care and the reactor to revolutionize health care.
