MO Attorney General investigates online price-gouging

Missouri’s attorney general isn’t messing around when it comes to price gouging during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Attorney General Eric Schmitt said Monday he issued civil investigative demands to eight Missouri-based Amazon sellers. The demands act like subpoenas. The third-party sellers are under investigation for allegedly charging two to 19 times as much for hand sanitizer, masks and other items as they did before the pandemic.

Anyone who thinks they see price gouging can call the Attorney General’s office at 800-392-8222, or file a complaint online.
