Columbia police say a woman was killed during a crash involving an 18-wheeler.
Officers say it happened just after 4:45 a.m. Monday on northbound Highway 63 near Vandiver. Investigators say Shannon Marrero had parked her car on the shoulder to assist another driver. An 18-wheeler truck veered to the left lane to avoid the parked cars. That’s when Marrero’s car unexpectedly made a U-turn in front of the truck, which then struck the driver’s side of her car.
Marrero, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver, John Lammers of Jefferson City, was not hurt.
