UPDATE: 46-year-old Rachel Welch was killed on Tuesday when she tried to cross US 54. 84-year-old Harold Brooks was driving the SUV when he collided with Welch in the passing lane of the highway. The crash report states Brooks had no injuries.
ORIGINAL STORY: One person is dead Tuesday afternoon after a fatal pedestrian crash in Cole County.
Troopers said the crash involving a pedestrian and a SUV happened on eastbound US 54 at Route E, near Brazito.
While the pedestrian has not been identified, officers did say the family had been notified.
