Truck pulling carnival ride crashes in Jefferson City

No one was hurt when brake malfunction caused a man to crash his truck at the intersection of Monroe Street and U.S. 50.

According to Jefferson City police, Paul Smith Sr. was driving westbound on U.S. 50 around noon Thursday when his brakes malfunction on his 1995 Dodge Ram 3500 truck. He was pulling a carnival slide.

He was able to steer to the right onto the shoulder and avoid crashing into stopped traffic.

His truck continued going westbound, crossing Monroe Street and going down an embankment on the northwest corner of the intersection.

He was not hurt, and the truck and slide only got minor damage.
