State transportation officials say the new Sorrels overpass bridge over I-70 west of Columbia opened Tuesday morning. That word from state Department of Transportation (MoDOT) spokesman Adam Pulley.
The old bridge was closed and demolished, after being struck by a truck in mid-October. That collision caused significant damage to the old bridge, which was built in 1958.
The state Department of Transportation (MoDOT) emphasizes that safety has been its top priority as they worked on the new bridge.
