There has been no verdict in a high-profile Columbia murder trial, a case that’s drawing national attention and live coverage on Court TV.
A jury deliberated for about six hours Wednesday evening, before suspending their deliberations for the night. The jury got the case at about 5 pm.
33-year-old Lynlee Renick is charged with first degree murder for the death of her husband, Ben.
She testified Wednesday that she had intended to request a divorce from her husband in 2017, and brought Michael Humphrey along. She testified she had no idea that Humphrey had a gun, and that Humphrey fired multiple shots in the snake barn, killing Ben Renick.
Prosecutors say Lynlee conspired with four people to kill her husband, and is guilty of first degree murder regardless of whether she fired the shots or not.
Defense attorney Timothy Heseman told the jury that Humphrey threatened to kill Lynlee Renick, if she called police.
Court TV has live coverage of the trial nationwide. There is also a crew from “Dateline NBC” at the Boone County Courthouse.
